This was our rental car. Grace Bay Car Rentals were accomodating and professional all the way.
This is the economy car for $35 per day.

We drove out as far to the Leeward end as we could and we found this spot to take some pictures from.
That's Nikki Beach Resort in the distance.

It seems they now have control over the going thru and lots of local business people are suffering because of it.
Who knows the real story?

It's pretty here.

The Conch Farm is over there somewhere and Catch the Wave is located in the tan building on the far right.

These boat docks seem to be for the locals and their personal/pleasure boats...we didn't see any that were from excursion companies.

There was a ton of this amber colored sea weed...I think it's pretty.

It's just so different from the green sea weed we have here at home.

Directly across the canal is Mangrove Cay. Big Blue Eco Tours does kayak tours thru here.

maybe something to do with the dredging?

We found our way to Long Bay.
I took this picture to show the trash near this entrance, but you will notice in all the pictures I've posted that trash is not "everywhere" as some people have stated. *

No trash to be found.

We did find peace and solitude.
And calm waters unlike Grace Bay where the waves were crashing this morning.

There is a lot of natural debris here, leaves, pine needles etc.
There are no resorts lining the beach and cleaning it everyday so it's au natural.

The water here is very shallow for miles and miles and this boat has been stuck here for as long as we've been visiting Provo. *

There is a lot of natural brush behind the beach area.

Our little spot in paradise for a few hours. *

The water here has lots of conch shells in it. *

All the dark areas are conch shells.
I wouldn't go in the water here without water shoes.

The Long Bay Shore Club (?) is being built down there around the bend a bit.
There were people kite boarding down that way too.

Can you imagine the views from this house?

If I lived here I'd want to clear some of the conch shells from the water...

We noticed the ATV tracks in the sand and wondered if the beach police that we see on Grace Bay do patrols over here too?

All the conch shells were in various stages of decomposing...

Some still had grass growing on them...

Most were worn down into the sand and added this cool textured effect to the beach...

The closer I got to the dark piles along the shore I could see that they were piles of shells worn down by the sea.

I thought it was so interesting to look at... *

Long Bay Beach.

There were some trees for shade if needed...

But because of the angle of the sun you'd have to go back into the brush to utilize them...

The water was crystal clear.

We liked it here at Long Bay.

The Provobum called this conch "The Rooster"
...can you guess why?

A few smaller houses along the beach, but still very private here.

As we were leaving another couple came along to kiteboard I think.
They had a heck of a time getting the kite blown up.

We left Long Bay area and went cruising around the Chalk Sound area.
This is Emerald Cay.
It's between Chaulk Sound Road and Silly Creek and looks spectacular.

Chaulk Sound Road was a fantastic ride.
The color of the water is amazing.

I think there is no dirt/topsoil on the island, only limestone.
It's a very dry and non tropical island.
